Riddle Me Ree

I have many holes but I am not a sieve.

My teeth don’t bite.

Although I am small, I am very heavy.

Sometimes you might find me just hanging around …

… but I get very hot when I am working.

What am I?

Could it be a cast iron diffuser?
Possibly working on the induction cooker to heat non metal cookware.
    OR
Could it be a meat press?
    OR
Is it something you tie to T’s feet to stop him running around so much?
    OR
    O’s fishing line weight?

PS – I thought you had gone into hibernation since November last.
    See you soon ……..

A flame tamer or heat diffuser or whatever you call them. I SWEAR I didn’t look at Dad’s answer first…
